Dr. Michael Peter Bochenek

Dr. Michael Peter Bochenek, 75, of Hoffman Estates died on November 30, 2018 after a short and brave battle with cancer. Michael was born on September 23, 1943 in Chicago to Stephen and Laura (nee Poprawski) Bochenek. He met Donna Giles on a blind date and they were married on September 2, 1967. They shared 51 years of love and laughs together. Michael attended high school at DePaul Academy in Chicago. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and his master’s and Ph.D. from Loyola University. He worked as a Labor Relations Specialist at AT&T for 25 years before following his dream and becoming a professor in business and economics at Elmhurst College. He retired in 2008 as a Professor Emeritus. Michael was a loving Daddy and Paw to his daughters Kristie Vargo and Tracy Moore (who will draw straws for his coveted bicentennial coffee mug), and adored Baba to his grandchildren Reese and Vann Vargo and Griffin Moore. Michael was a civil war buff, lover of words, self-taught woodworker, and a devoted, yet anxious Cubs fan who loved his family above all else. Visitation Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2550 West Hassell Road, (Northeast corner at Barrington Road), Hoffman Estates, Illinois 60169. Family and friends will meet Friday, December 7, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2515 West Palatine Road, Inverness, IL 60067 for a visitation from 9:30 A.M. till time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. Interment to follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine, Illinois. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society . Michael was selfless and sensitive. Curious and witty.
