Mrs. Ana D. Rico of Schaumburg

Ana D. Rico, age 91, a resident of Schaumburg, IL, passed away peacefully August 23, 2019 after battling with pancreatic cancer. Ana was born January 30, 1928 in Pinar del Río, Cuba to the late Dr. Joaquin Cabrera and Cira Docal. Ana is survived by her beloved daughters, Ana, Carmen and Maria; three loving sons in laws, Jose (Alfredo), Jorge and Vince; and her eight adoring grandchildren, Luis, Rodrigo, Mauricio, Roxanna, Alfredo, Deliana, Alex and Andrea. She was preceded in death by her first son in law Luis Reyes; parents, Joaquin and Cira; her three siblings; and her Husband, Jose Rico. Shortly after meeting her husband in Cuba, Ana and Jose married after four months of dating. Together they had three beautiful daughters and lived in Camagüey until 1971, when the Rico’s migrated to the United States to avoid communism. After three years in Chicago, Ana became a widow and was forced to take several jobs to support her three daughters. She worked tirelessly to provide for her family. Ana is the true definition of perseverance, love, kindness and selflessness. Ana studied fashion in Cuba and had a passion for sewing, she enjoyed traveling, telenovelas, playing dominos and bingo, shopping with her daughters; but her favorite past time was spending time with her loved ones. Ana is the matriarch of the family and she leaves a legacy that will live on through all the lives she has touched. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 26, 2019 from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2550 Hassell Rd, Hoffman Estates, Illinois 60169.
