Arthur "Art" Michael Peters, age 83, of South Barrington, Illinois, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026. He was born on March 14, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to Eleanor Ellingsen and Arthur V. Peters. Art was married to the love of his life, Eileen Gribauskas Peters, for nearly 55 years. Together, they built a life centered on family, hard work, and generosity. He was a proud father to two daughters, Joanna (Eric) Tellschow and Stephanie (Adam) Kneisler. Art was an especially devoted grandfather to his five grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy: Emily, Nathan, and Leah Tellschow, and Benjamin and James Kneisler. Art was preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor and Arthur, and his siblings, Robert (Jodi) Peters and Janet Hartmann. He was the last surviving sibling, a role he carried with quiet strength. A man of many hats, Art’s life was defined by service, leadership, and an extraordinary work ethic. He proudly served in the United States Army and later worked as a police officer in Lincolnwood, Illinois. Following his civil service, he built a career in the technology industry, ultimately founding Power Technology Inc., which he built and operated alongside his wife for more than 38 years. Art loved working with his hands and took pride in doing things the right way; whether in his business, his home, or his relationships. He believed in showing up, honoring tradition, and taking care of the people he loved. His generosity was quiet but constant. One of Art’s greatest sources of pride was his time as Drum Major for the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, starting in 1961, where he was not only a musician, but a leader. Music stayed with him throughout his life, and the Cavaliers’ signature song, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, mirrored Art’s spirit - rooted in tradition, shaped by effort, and guided by a belief in what lay ahead. Following his time with the Cavaliers, he became an integral part of lifting the Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps to national prominence with his outstanding brass arrangements and direction from 1965 through 1967. Art will be remembered as a man who was fiercely loyal, endlessly hardworking, and deeply devoted to his family. He had a sharp, funny sense of humor, an eye for detail, and a heart rooted in love and responsibility. Above all, he was a husband, father, and grandfather who showed his love through action every single day. Now, as those who loved him imagine him somewhere over the rainbow, they carry forward the values he lived by and the steady, loving presence he leaves behind. Honoring Art’s wishes for an intimate event, a private celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks with immediate family.
