Mrs. Barbara Anne Huss of Hoffman Estates

Barbara Anne Huss (Siewert), age 75, of Hoffman Estates, IL, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024. Barbara Anne Huss was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Anne Siewert, her sister Judy Hannon, and her husband of 43 years, Bill Huss. She is survived by children Annie Gulick (Huss) and her husband Galen of Chicago, IL and Chuck Huss and his wife Nellie LaVigne of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren Willie and Duncan Huss and Saoirse and Emerald Gulick; sisters Jean Siewert of Wheeling, IL and Cathy Ivie (Siewert) of Green Valley, AZ as well as beloved nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law and many wonderful in-laws, friends and neighbors. Barb grew up in Edgebrook, a neighborhood of Chicago, and was the eldest of four sisters. She attended St. Mary of the Woods Catholic School and St. Scholastica Academy. She studied Nursing at Ravenswood Hospital and spent 30+ years as an RN. Her talent for helping patients and families through challenging times with grace and calm extended to all she knew. She was always there for others, with a note, a call, a visit or to help shoulder any burden, big or small. She cared deeply and found great meaning in her many volunteer roles and charitable acts including recent service at her church, Holy Family Catholic Community Parish through their PADS program to provide food and shelter to the unhoused, hospitality ministry for fellow parishioners; frequent shifts at the WINGS resale store dedicated to providing jobs and support for victims of domestic violence; her previous work spending time with residents at St Joseph Home For the Elderly; as well as many other organizations throughout her life. Barb had a beautiful spirit. She was a devoted friend to those near and far, an outstanding mother and a beloved Nana. She treasured her time with her children and grandchildren, and thoughtfully planned and carried out family gatherings, making each visit a celebration. She was a longtime Jazzercise member which fueled her love of music, dancing and fitness. She was very creative; always doing crafts, making jewelry, gardening and baking—passions that she passed on to her children. She faced challenges in life including diabetes and mental health, but always kept pursuing support and wellness, and she prioritized family and friends above all else. Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 9:30 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Community Parish, 2515 W. Palatine Road, Inverness, IL 60067. A memorial luncheon will follow at Barbara's home : 3976 Whispering Trails Drive, Hoffman Estates, IL 60192. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting one of the many charities Barb loved, including Holy Family Catholic Community Parish, WINGS, the Chicago Botanic Garden, Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital, the charity of choice or spend some time volunteering in her memory.
