Mrs. Betty F. Gordon

Betty F. Gordon (nee Ford) of Schaumburg, IL. Betty was born December 15, 1947 in Barre, VT. to the late Henry and the late Ruth Ford. She passed away on November 10, 2024. Betty graduated from NIU in 1969 with a B.S., R.N. She is survived by her husband, Ted Gordon, of over 53 years; her two sisters, Joan Kirschner and Jean Ford; brother-in-law, Ed; nephews Michael and Dan Kirschner and many other relatives and friends. Betty had many careers: Rn in DeKalb clinic, dental assistant, school nurse in district 54, ASI, concession trailer, and Motorola, ending with concierge for a museum from which she retired. She brought competence, enthusiasm, and joy to each of her places of employment. Betty had the ability to make everyone she met feel great. She had a keen sense of humor and loved making people laugh and feel happy. She used to call Aldrin School just to tell jokes to the secretaries. She was always trying to brighten everyone’s day. Chris and Kelly Cook tell wonderful stories of the fun they had working with Betty at the Popcorn Wagon at September Fest in Schaumburg. Betty loved decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas. If you were fortunate, you were invited to dinner at the Gordon’s home where you enjoyed a huge Christmas feast. Guests got to walk the house and view the many, many decorated Christmas trees. It was such a treat to see all the different types of trees they had. There were so many beautiful and unique ornaments as well. These are very special memories many of us have of Betty. Betty had a very generous heart and constantly gave to others. She and Ted loved nothing better than making someone’s day by bringing them a Door County pie, a box of chocolates, or a bag of Paydays. They loved slipping candy bars in the free lunch bags just to make those dreary lunches more special for the children. They contributed quietly to many, many people who were in need. Betty and Ted were the souls of generosity. Betty had many serious health issues for her whole life, but she never focused on her difficulties or gave in to self-pity. She was always more concerned about others than herself. She rarely bothered anyone with her hospital stays or her surgeries. But she was the first one to call to see how other people were doing during an illness or surgery. She had so much quiet courage! Betty and Ted had a beautiful marriage and constantly supported each other. She often said that Ted was a wonderful husband, and she was so fortunate to have found such a kind and patient man. She appreciated him so much and was thankful for their marriage. Betty’s laughter and jokes will be missed by everyone who knew her. Her sweet spirit, her wisdom, her generosity, and her courage were an inspiration to all who loved her. She made the world a better place. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 from 3:00 P.M. until time of Sharing and Remembrance at 6:30 P.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2550 West Hassell Road, (Northeast corner at Barrington Road), Hoffman Estates, Illinois 60169. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite local Animal Shelter or the American Lung Association would be appreciated.
