David Lee Williams, age 70, died on October 21st, 2015, in Sun City West, Arizona. Dave is survived by his spouse of 46 years, Bonita Williams, nee Palmer, of Sun City West, Arizona; his daughter Dawn (Dana) Westburg, nee Williams of Oconomowoc Wisconsin, son David (Amy) Michael Williams of Schaumburg Illinois, grandchildren Emily Westburg, Abby Westburg, Beverly Westburg, Jacob Williams and Rachel Williams and his brothers Don Williams, of Somerset Kentucky, Gary Williams, of Alpharetta Georgia, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Lily Williams, nee Lovell and Charles Lee Williams of Somerset Kentucky, and his siblings Verna Hornbeck, nee Williams of Hamilton, Ohio, Charles Williams of Cincinnati, Ohio and Mary Riddell-Goodrich, nee Williams of Florence Kentucky. Family and Friends will meet Saturday, November 07, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. until time of memorial service 11:00 A.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2550 West Hassell Road, (Northeast corner of Barrington Road), Hoffman Estates, IL. 60169, an interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine, Illinois. Dave was born on December 19, 1944 in Cincinnati, Ohio to parents Lily and Charles Lee Williams. He married Bonnie Palmer in May of 1969 and started a family. They were blessed with daughter Dawn and son Michael. In 1973, they moved to the Chicago area where Dave worked as a programmer analyst for various companies and as an independent consultant supporting the banking industry. For a few years the family lived in California which was a great adventure. They moved back to Schaumburg, Illinois where Dave spent the remainder of his career, mostly with Discover Financial Services. If you ever use a Discover card, think of Dave when your purchase is “Approved”;” he wrote the program. Dave was a family man and a loving father. He worked hard to provide for the family. He and Bonnie had a full family and social life as well. Neighbors became good friends; Helen and Bob Stawarz were like family. They have great stories about good times in the neighborhood when the kids were young including late afternoon get-togethers at Helen and Bob’s backyard pool that were epic. As Dawn and Michael grew up, Bonnie went back to work, and they made the most of their time together. They enjoyed seeing the kids succeed in college and at work and supported them in their endeavors. Their favorite family trip was the “Williams Family European Vacation”; which gave them lots of great stories. When Dawn and Michael found love, Dave welcomed their partners with open arms. Dawn’s husband, Dana, became a second son and Mike’s wife, Amy, a second daughter. Dave was so proud of his family and such a gracious and wonderful host. Dave was in his element when he was hosting a party. After the grandkids started arriving, Dave loved to spend time with his grandchildren either at their home in Schaumburg or at the family recreation camp at Woodhaven. Holidays and birthday parties were always fun. Dave was a boy at heart and had an enthusiasm that was contagious. He taught the grandkids how to fish and the family often played cards and board games. Bonnie and Dave retired to Sun City West, Arizona in 2012 and were again blessed to make good friends in the community. In his retirement, Dave attended the coffee group on Wednesday, belonged to the Arthritis club, and enjoyed playing cards with friends. Bonnie and Dave loved to travel and have great memories of their adventures, including a few recent cruises with family and friends. Last but not least, Dave had a passion for good food and wine, which he loved to share with family and friends. He dabbled a bit in vegetable gardening -; growing tomatoes, corn (which were enjoyed by the local raccoons), and lots of peppers (he loved his hot peppers). Dave also enjoyed cooking, hunting, shooting, and riding motorcycles. His family and friends will always remember him as a generous, loving person, and a great host who never lost his boyish enthusiasm for life.
