Mrs. Dianne H. Schmitt of Lombard

Dianne H. Schmitt, 83, of Lombard, Illinois. Loving wife of the late Thomas Schmitt; devoted mother of Tony (Rebecca) LaBarre, Tom Schmitt, Catherine (Peter) VanGemmeren and Joe (Danielle) LaBarre; cherished grandmother of 18 and great grandmother of 7; beloved sister of Brian (Karolynn) LaBarre; fond aunt of Jake (Nicole) LaBarre and Ryan (Roxanne) LaBarre. She married Thomas Schmitt in 1965 and they moved to Elk Grove Village, IL to raise their 4 children. They were married for 55 years, before Tom’s passing in Nov 2020, and are reunited forever now. Dianne was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN to Francis and Helen LaBarre and was one of two children. She graduated high school from Holy Angels Academy and went on to college at Creighton University in Nebraska. Dianne worked as an Art Teacher at Mark Hopkins grade school and was loved by many of her students. Later she was an Art Director at Friendship Village of Schaumburg, IL and then The Breakers in Chicago, IL. It was in that role that she could share her talent and passion for art with others. She raised four children, was a grandmother to 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandkids. Her hobby was arts and crafts, going to flea markets, estate and garage sales. She had a talent for taking antiques or family keepsakes and making them into pieces to be treasured and remembered. The family often spent summers, up at the lake, in MN. She will be missed by all those who knew her. Family and friends are to gather for the visitation on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. till time of service at 11:30 A.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home, 2550 West Hassell Rd., (Northeast corner of Barrington Rd.), Hoffman Estates, IL. 60169.
