Ethel Lillis, of Elgin, Illinois. Devoted daughter of the late Jacob and the late Olga Forsuk; loving mother of Susan, Chick, Kevin and Robert Lillis; cherished grandmother/Nana to Sonia and Ana Lillis; fond sister to the late Robert and the late Larrayn. Ethel raised her four children in our Lord’s path attending Peace Lutheran Church in Chicago weekly until her move to Elgin where she was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She worked three jobs in order to provide a Lutheran education for her children. Later in life, after her children graduated from college, Ethel pursued her love of interior design by enrolling in college. She studied both at Harrington College of Design and School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where her granddaughter Sonia, graduated from this past May. Her new career as an interior designer led her to work in the Department of Interiors in Bloomingdale. She loved her clients and her work was her passion. Everyone knows how special animals were to Ethel. She was a champion to all God’s creatures. For more than fifteen years she worked tirelessly at Pet Rescue in Bloomingdale to care for and feed orphaned pets. She even brought some of the saddest cases home. What you may not know about Mom/Nana was how she took care of elderly neighbors throughout her years. She took them to doctor’s appointments, cooked gourmet meals for them, and cheered them up with her warmth and sense of humor. She took extraordinary care of her father, mother and sister during their dying days at home. We are celebrating her homecoming to God in Heaven where she is pain free and living eternally in paradise. 2 Peter 3-6 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
