Mr. James Marshall Backus of Barrington Hills

James Marshall Backus, age 83, of Barrington Hills, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday November 23, 2022. He was born on December 6, 1938 in Jamaica (Queens), New York. He was the beloved son and only child of James and Ruby Backus. He met his loving wife, Miriam Sylvia Dean, in 1976 while members of Gospel Outreach Christian Fellowship in Chicago. They were joined in holy matrimony on July 2, 1983. James and Miriam Backus were married for nearly 40 years. James founded New Creation Restoration Service, through which he supported his family for many years as a skilled upholsterer and vinyl/leather repair craftsmen. In the early years of his adulthood, he was a talented bass singer and pianist, and sang with several groups within the New York area. James is survived by his wife, Miriam Sylvia Backus, son, David Jeremiah Backus, daughter, Joy Miriam Mcneal, Son-in-law, Robert Mcneal, grandsons Malakhi Robert Mcneal and Azariyah Shamar Mcneal, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, James and Ruby Backus. James was known for his compassionate and persevering spirit. He was always willing to serve others. He will also be remembered for his sense of humor. James Backus was a born again believer in Jesus Christ. The 23rd Psalm was one of his favorite Bible passages. James was very loved and cherished by his family and will be sincerely missed. Psalms 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me besides the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His names sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Visitation will be Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home, 2550 West Hassell Rd., (Northeast corner of Barrington Rd.), Hoffman Estates, IL. 60169.
