Mr. Lanny DeVear Babbitt of Barrington

Lanny DeVear Babbitt, 83, of Barrington, Illinois. Loving husband of Joyce Babbitt, nee Hardin; devoted father of Courtney (Nicholas Osborne) Babbitt and Carolyn (Michael) O'Donnell; cherished grandfather of Phoebe, Olivia, Daniel and Katherine; beloved brother of Brian (Pam) Babbitt and the late David (Sandy) Babbitt. Born in Tacoma, Washington, Lanny recalled spending his summers strawberry picking and working for the railroad to help pay for college—experiences that shaped his strong work ethic. He went on to enjoy a long and successful career with Quaker Oats, where he formed many lasting friendships and was well known for his personable, fun, and sometimes delightfully wacky spirit. Lanny loved to travel the world and embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. He was compassionate, warm, and genuinely interested in people. His favorite pastimes included tennis and golf, and he greatly treasured his Tuesday night dinner group, which brought him friendship and laughter over the years. Above all, Lanny was a deeply loving father and grandfather who found his greatest happiness in time spent with his family. Family and friends are to gather for the visitation on Sunday, April19, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. till time of service at 10:30 A.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home, 2550 West Hassell Rd., (Northeast corner of Barrington Rd.), Hoffman Estates, IL. 60169.
