Celebrating the Life of Leslie Doherty Leslie Renee Doherty, 49, of Arlington Heights, Illinois; passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love and presence of her family, on Wednesday August, 13 2025. If you were lucky enough to know Leslie, you know that the world felt lighter in her presence. She had a rare gift of making everyone she encountered feel truly special. Whether through a clever joke, a flash of quick wit, a big hug, or her infectious laugh, she had a way of leaving people better than she found them. Leslie was a lover of puzzles, nature, travel, and music-she loved singing and dancing along to her favorite songs. She cherished the comfort of hugs and the companionship of animals. A sports enthusiast through and through—she loved golf, was on a bowling league, played basketball and softball most of her life, and was on the rowing and rugby team at University of Michigan, where she majored in Biology. She was a fierce competitor and dedicated teammate. She also loved attending live sporting events. Always eager for adventure, she chased the thrill-skydiving, white water rafting, traversing glaciers in Norway, and boating. With a lively spirit, she loved the excitement of games, casinos, gambling, and bitcoin. Most of all, she enjoyed creating memories with loved ones. She found her greatest happiness in the company of her beloved wife, their two cats-Simon and Garth, and the family and friends who filled her life with joy. In this life, she was the one who filled rooms with laughter and made even the most ordinary day feel memorable. In the next, she joins her father, Patrick Doherty; her grandparents, Thomas and Constance Doherty and Neil and Dorothy Fisher; her aunt, Kathy Doherty; her uncles Daniel Doherty and Greg Martindale; and her faithful companion, her beloved dog Beans— no doubt already curled up at her side, as she’s making them laugh too. Leslie’s story is one of connection, joy, and the gift of truly seeing people. Her humor was quick, her love was deep, and her presence magnetic. We will remember her for the profound impact she had on every life she touched. Leslie is the loving wife of Alisha Doherty, nee Hunt; cherished daughter of Susan Doherty, nee Fisher and the late Patrick Doherty; devoted sister of Stacey Michels, Brent Doherty, Whitney (Erin) Doherty, Tony Roberts, Nina Madonia Kolaski and Tina Kremser; beloved aunt of Alexis Walley, Jake Michels, Ryan Michels, Gabby Michels and Declan Prak; cherished daughter in law of David and Patricia Sleboda as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2550 West Hassell Road, (Northwest corner of Barrington Road), Hoffman Estates, IL 60169. In lieu of flowers donations to Orphans of the Storm or Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation would be greatly appreciated.
