Mrs. Lois Ann Brown of Schaumburg

Lois Ann Brown, nee Brenke, of Schaumburg, Il, passed away on December 10th, 2020. Lois was the loving wife of the late Ralph Walton Brown; beloved mother of Debbie, Linda, and Sally; cherished Granny of Gregory (Gerishma) and Brian (Tamara); proud GG of Noelle, Naomi, Nyla, and Grey; dear sister of the late Janet Gustafson; fond aunt of Gail Gustafson and Sharon (Glenn) Schoen; affectionate great aunt of Emily and Kate; and longtime and caring friend of Jean and Roland Ambrose. Family and Friends will meet Tuesday, December 21, 2021 for a memorial service at 11:30 A.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2550 West Hassell Road, (Northeast corner of Barrington Road), Hoffman Estates, IL. 60169. Pastor Jeanne Murawski Officiating. **Due to COVID-19 pandemic, Please note that all visitors are required to wear a mask when entering the funeral home** Lois was born in Chicago on January 1st, 1932 to the late Fredric and Flora Brenke. She attended Mayfair School and graduated from Carl Schurz High School. Lois was Class President at Ravenswood Hospital Nursing School and became a dedicated registered nurse. She worked for many years in the newborn nursery at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, Il. She was published in medical journals, authoring articles on breastfeeding, epilepsy, and fetal alcohol syndrome. Lois was passionate about the evolving field of infant stimulation and helped with the development of many newborns and education of their parents. Lois was introduced to her husband Ralph Walton Brown by their mutual friends, Vic and June Solmon. One date and the rest was history. She happily married Ralph in 1952 wearing a dress and train made by her mother. She was known by her friends and family as the "Hosta Queen", and passed on her love of gardening to her daughters. She was a member of Prospect Heights Community Church and choir, and actively volunteered with Meals On Wheel and PADS. Lois was a talented crocheter of blankets and snowflakes and also enjoyed embroidery. Lois and Ralph loved vacationing every year in Little St. Germain, Wisconsin, where they enjoyed time with family and each other. She was an avid supporter of Ralph’s quest to catch the elusive muskie. Even to her final days, Lois was thrilled when she could time a pause, expression, or jest to catch her loved ones off guard and elicit a laugh. Her friends and family will fondly remember her for her witty humor and her surefire response of “A shot and a beer,” when asked what she would like to drink.
