Malik C Parkash

Malik C. Parkash, 93, of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, while in hospice care at JourneyCare in Barrington, Illinois. Born on June 7, 1933, in India, Malik was the eldest child of Hardial and Vijawanti Malik. He grew up in India, where he was a devoted son and brother. He developed a passion for mathematics and science, which led him to earning a bachelor's degree in mathematics at a university in India. Then, in 1958, he made the journey to the United States to attend the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy (now known as Missouri University of Science and Technology) located in Rolla, Missouri, where he earned a metallurgical engineering degree. He furthered his education by earning a master’s degree in social and industrial relations from Loyola University Chicago. Before moving to Hoffman Estates, IL in 2004, Malik and his beloved wife of 60 years, Sandra, lived in Schaumburg from 1969-2004, where they raised their two lovely daughters. Malik was well known in the community for his participation and leadership in non-profit civic organizations, his local HOA and local government. Malik became a US citizen in 1976. Malik had a passion for domestic and international travel, having visited most of the US states and many countries throughout Asia and Europe, as well as Australia and New Zealand. He enjoyed traveling with his family and experiencing new destinations with them. Malik was a kind and generous man who was devoted to his family, friends and MaryKay, his late cat. He loved meeting new people and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all those who knew and loved him. Malik is survived by his wife, Sandra J.; his children, Pamela J. (James) Anderson, and Shari D. (Chris Verzosa) Parkash, and his brother, Om Prakash (Krishna) Malik as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Hardial and Vijawanti Malik, and his sisters, Prem (Dr. Daulat Lal) Verma, and Preetam (late Chander) Kumar. A private interment will be held at Bronswood Cemetery, Oak Brook, Illinois.
