Mrs. Marilyn Pauline Donovan of Hoffman Estates

Marilyn Pauline Donovan (nee Sanofsky); of Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Beloved wife of the late George Donovan; loving mother of William Donovan, Thomas Donovan, Patrick Donovan and Aline (Frank) Donovan-Sanchez; cherished grandmother of Drake, Raymond, George, Christopher and Gabriella and close and loving friend of R. Bruce Glass Marilyn grew up in Chicago and was a resident of Hoffman Estates for 40 years. A graduate of Southern Illinois University, she minored in Liberal Arts and majored in Education where she completed courses towards her masters degree. Marilyn taught cosmetology at the Davea Career Center for 25 years. Her vocal training started at a very young age. She sang professionally in the Chicago area for many years. She worked with a number of different bands, performing as a duet with keyboard accompaniment and as a solo vocalist. She has recorded two albums called “Marilyn’s Music” and “Marilyn Sings.” She loved performing Great Standards, Jazz, Country, Broadway, Blues, the New and Oldies but Goodies. She was happy to be performing as a member of the trio “Wrightblend,” a very multitalented group. She was also a writer and has written a book on poetry and just completed a novel. Her experience in the theater included Dracula, Music Man, The Subject was Roses, Hello Goodbye, Ten Little Indians, Pinocchio and many more. She directed one of the short plays produced at the Wood Street Theater. She started painting as a hobby but turned into a serious commitment. She worked mostly in acrylics and enjoyed painting landscapes, portraits, still life and abstracts. Her art has been chosen for several exhibits including the Romanian Festival in 2001 and the Hoffman Estates Village Art Show in 2006. Funeral Wednesday 9:15 am from Morizzo Funeral Home, 2550 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates to St. Hubert’s Church for 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial. Interment to St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine, Illinois. Visitation Tuesday 3 to 9 pm.
