Mrs. Masako Pacey of Hoffman Estates

Masako Pacey, nee Hanashiro, 82, of Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Born 11-13-1933 in Nago, Okinawa, Japan. Married Nov 15, 1958 to Franklin Pacey of Napoleon, Ohio. Beloved wife of the late Franklin Pacey, who died in 2005; loving mother of Yaeko Kimura, Tina (Sean) Coughlin, Daniel Pacey, the late Timothy Pacey, who died in 2015; cherished grandmother of Kazushi (Yuuko), Masayoshi, Kevin Coughlin; great grandmother Sumio, Kyoko and the late Thomas, who died in 1996; devoted daughter, sister and aunt, caring mother, loving Obaa, cherished Sosobo and loyal friend; predeceased by son-in-law Kenichi Kimura, 2007. Visitation Friday, April 01, 2016 from 2:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2550 West Hassell Road, (Northeast corner at Barrington Road), Hoffman Estates, Illinois 60169; Family and friends will meet Saturday, April 02, 2016 at 9:45 A.M. at the office of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, 1185 West Algonquin Road, Palatine, Illinois 60067, for a committal service. After coming to the United States as a recent bride of a Marine, and a new mother, Masako lived in California and Kentucky as their family grew. In 1966, the Paceys settled in Hoffman Estates, IL, where the family still resides. An integral part of Masako's life involved her relationship with her Okinawan Kenjinkai. She enjoyed sharing her culture and family traditions with her children, grandchildren and the younger members of the club. Masako played sanshin and taishougoto, also teaching the younger club members. Masako enjoyed knitting, a talent she shared with her son Tim. She was very talented with a crochet hook, as well, making countless scarves and necklaces, as well as afghans. The necklaces were sold to raise funds for her Kenjinkai club. She belonged to a knitting and crochet group, too. Masako earned her GED in 1980, and became a U.S. Citizen in 1981. She worked at Motorola in Schaumburg for many years. Masako had an incredibly green thumb, and no matter what she planted thrived! Masako was a consummate hostess and loved cooking traditional Okinawan dishes, as well as American cuisine. No gathering was complete without food, lovingly prepared. Playing cards was another favorite pastime, as many close friends will attest.
