Mrs. Patricia Ann (Foy) Cross of Barrington

Patricia Ann Cross (née Foy), 73, of Barrington, Illinois, passed away on May 2, 2025, with her husband, Jeffery, by her side. Patti was born in Chicago on August 2, 1951, the daughter of George and June Condon Foy. She graduated from the College of William & Mary in 1973 and received her juris doctor from Syracuse University in 1976. Patti and Jeffery were married on February 2, 1974; they recently celebrated their 51st anniversary. She and Jeffery raised their four children in Barrington. Patti loved her children fiercely and adored her 7 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and survived by her husband, Jeffery; sons, Bryan (Samantha) of New Canaan, CT; William (Julia) of Arvada, CO; daughters, Molly (James Haunty) of Hinsdale, IL; and Anne Strachan (Henry Moll) of Philadelphia, PA; her brothers Laurence (Mary) Foy; Bryan (Colleen) Foy; David Jamison Foy; and sister Donna Foy (Haris Blackwood) . Also surviving Patti are her grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Mama Patti”: Jack, Ainslie June, Lucie June, Theodore William, Jake, Adele Ann, and Joslyn Ann. After graduating from law school, Patti began her career at a large Chicago law firm then known as Lord, Bissell & Brook, practicing air and railroad crash defense work. Before moving to Barrington, Patti and Jeff lived in Evanston, where Patti oversaw the construction of their first home. Patti and Jeff later moved to Barrington to live closer to her parents, moving just one house away. When their third child was born, Patti stepped back from practicing law full-time to devote her energies to raising her children, caring for her parents, and becoming active in her community. She volunteered for local charities, including Barrington Youth Services, organizing its fundraiser for several years. Warm and outgoing, Patti made a friend wherever she went, quick to smile and lend a hand. After their children went off to college, Patti went back to practicing law. For the last ten years of her career, she was the Assistant Corporation Counsel for the Village of Hoffman Estates. Patti loved vacationing every spring with her family on Captiva Island, Florida and every summer in Glen Arbor, Michigan. Visitation will be at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 647 Dundee Ave, Barrington, IL on Friday, June 6 from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael’s on Saturday, June 7 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the Cross Family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association The family has created this Life Tributes page to make it easy to share your memories, photos, and videos.
