Mr. Philip DeSalvo of Inverness

Philip DeSalvo, 99, of Inverness, Illinois. Guided by truth, honor and an unwavering commitment to family, Philip DeSalvo, our rock, granite-tough, led a life like no other. He served honorably in the U.S. Army, Navy and Merchant Marines, faithfully defending our country during World War II. In 1951, he married our precious, darling mother, Angelina Viscuso in Bagheria, Sicily and emigrated to the U.S. He learned and mastered the bricklayer trade, crafting enduring structures from mortar and block. He was a master gardener, and having his hands in the soil was perhaps his greatest affection outside his loving bride of 71 years and his family. He could grow anything, anywhere. He’d create new species of tomato, graft fruit trees, always nurturing, cultivating, refining his pastoral craft. Philip was the beloved husband of the late Angelina (nee Viscuso); loving father of Casey DeSalvo, Joseph (Shawna) DeSalvo, Joanne (the late James) Jorgensen, Philip (Melanie) DeSalvo and Richard (Lisa) DeSalvo; dear grandfather of Aingeal (Joshua) Richardson, Phillip (Caitlin Cicero) DeSalvo, Joseph C. (Gina) DeSalvo, Casie (Justin) Kennedy, Marie (Robert) Gorman, Jimmy Jorgensen, Jessica Jorgensen, Zachary (Kelly) DeSalvo, Philip (Natalie) DeSalvo, Nicholas DeSalvo and Alyssa DeSalvo; dear great-grandfather of Christian, Michael, Joey, Angelina, Jaymeson, Amelia, Eleanor, Florence, Theodor and Evelyn; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26th, 2024 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home, 2550 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates, Illinois, 60169. Family and friends will meet on Saturday, July 27th, for a visitation from 9:00 A.M. till time of mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St, Barrington, IL 60010 IL. Entombment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, Palatine, IL. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made to Wounded Warrior Project , Tunnel to Towers Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
