Richard Severen Tveter, of Marengo, Illinois. Beloved husband of Elizabeth Tveter, nee Richter, Richard was a devoted family man, enjoying nearly 65 years of marriage to Elizabeth - their anniversary is August 19, loving father of Steven (Susan) Tveter and Diane (Jeff) Griffiths; cherished grandfather of Brian (Lauren) Tveter and Jason (Erin) Tveter; dear great grandfather of Abigail Tveter, Ellery Tveter, Taylor Tveter and Kennedy Tveter. Family and Friends will meet Wednesday, August 05, 2015 from 3:00 P.M. until time of service 7:00 P.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2550 West Hassell Road, (Northeast corner of Barrington Road), Hoffman Estates, IL. 60169. Burial Private. Richard Severen Tveter received both bachelors and masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology (I.I.T.). His professional history included North American Aviation working on predecessor designs to the X-15 aircraft, the Bendix Corporation and the Cook Electric Company where he met Syd Himmelstein. Mr. Himmelstein then recruited him to launch a new company, S. Himmelstein and Company, where he continued to work for nearly 50 years until his retirement in 2011. He is the holder of several patents that were instrumental in the development of the products still being manufactured by S. Himmelstein and Company. Outside of work, he enjoyed his family and working around the house. Anything that needed repairing he always preferred the challenge of trying to fix it himself. In his younger days he enjoyed model airplanes and model railroading. Later Richard and Elizabeth took on Square Dancing, advancing to higher and higher levels of challenge dancing.
