Mr. Robert Hayes of Hoffman Estates

Robert Hayes, age 69, of Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5th 2026 at St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates Illinois. He was born May 23, 1956, in Crownpoint New Mexico, to the late Tony Hayes and Helen Nez. Robert gained his wings and joined his siblings (Sisters) Joann Jack and Nora Hayes and (brother) Ross Hayes and his Children (Daughter) Cornella McCabe and (son) Tony Hayes. Robert is survived by (brother) Ernest W. and (sister) Rebecca L. and 9 kids Roberta, Randy, Robertson, Brian, Carman, Delvin, Maritta, Naomi and Syrita. 35 Grandkids and 7 Great-Grand Kids. After his strokes in 2004 he rehab for 6 years and Daughter Maritta took over care where he lived with her and her family, (Husband) Jose and 3 kids Isabella, Jaiden and Zoe for 16 years. Robert enjoys watching his grandkids play in sports ranging from basketball, volleyball, wrestling and football. He also enjoyed the company of our sweet Zoe who would play bingo, board games and paint with him, she always shared her snacks and kept him motivated. Robert lived in Idaho and New Mexico, and also lived in Arkansas, Texas and Illinois. He was a hard working man at a young age and started his first job at the age of 14. He had many trades under his sleeves such as a carpenter, electrician, mechanic and welder. He also did Indian horse races where he won several championships in the early 1990’s, where his love for horses began. Robert loved road trips, going to different places and having a delicious meal. He was loved by many people in different states, his sense of humor was his way of showing you he liked you. His favorite was, “Hi Robert, how are you feeling?” -With my hands. “It’s never good bye, it’s see you later” “Never depend on others to make you happy or to fix things for you. Always take care of yourself” Although he is no longer here with us on earth, we can continue to cherish the memories we inherited from him. Funeral arrangements are pending at this time.
