Dr. Thomas Malloy

Thomas Malloy, 79, of South Barrington, Illinois. **Due to COVID-19 pandemic, everyone is asked to be patient and abide by the number of visitors in the funeral home. All are asked that you keep your visit short to allow others to pay their respects. Please note that all visitors are required to wear a mask when entering the funeral home** Thomas Malloy of Chicago, IL, was born on July 28th, 1941 and died at the age of 79 on February 10th, 2021. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 56 years, Sabine. Tom was the loving father of Patty (Todd) Kimble and Michael (Debbie) Malloy. His cherished grandchildren are Jessica (25), Alex (23), Emma (20), Morganne (16), and Cameron (14). Tom attended Schurz High School, Wright Jr. College (Associate’s Degree), Illinois Institute of Technology (Bachelor of Science), and Loyola University where he received his PhD in Organic Chemistry. Upon graduation, he worked at Desoto as a chemist and retired as a Director of Research at UOP, Division of Honeywell. While working at UOP, he was granted 33 patents. After retirement, he became an Adjunct Professor of Organic Chemistry and taught at McHenry County College, Moraine Valley Community College, Harper College, and College of DuPage. He was an active member of the American Chemical Society (ACS). Tom enjoyed investing, going on vacation, and spending time with his Grandchildren. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a heart of gold. Family and Friends will meet Sunday, February 14, 2021 for a visitation from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2550 West Hassell Road, (Northeast corner at Barrington Road), Hoffman Estates, Illinois 60169 and Monday, February 15, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. till time of service at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Internment to follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Holy Family Catholic Church.
