Mr. Anthony M Russo of Mt. Prospect, Illinois.
July 9, 1940 - April 5, 2022
Anthony M. Russo, “Tony,” age 81, of Mt. Prospect, Illinois was adored by all who knew him. Beloved husband of 60 years to Mary Ann (née Siano), brother of Michael Russo, loving father of Anthony Russo Jr., Robert Russo, Donnalynn (John) Tortorella, Jeff Russo, Michelle Russo, and Philip (Yvonne) Russo. Dear grandfather of Brittany (Erik) Andersen, Angelica (Richard) Marmorstein, Josephine (Aaron) Simms, Samantha McKinnon, Sophia Tortorella, Nicholas Russo, Katherine Tortorella, Benjamin Russo, Alex Tortorella, Olivia Tortorella, and proud great grandfather of Marco Anthony Marmorstein. Anthony’s devotion to his loved ones was unrivaled. Throughout his long career, he started each day by preparing coffee for his wife and ended it by pouring her nightly glass of wine. He was a committed family man who catered to the needs of his six children. In his later life as a grandfather, Anthony drove several of his granddaughters to school daily, assisted with homework, and made time for bonding, frequently over Starbucks. He also had a lifelong love of reading which he shared with those around him. He loved to read books to his grandchildren and was an avid John Grisham fan. Anthony, himself, was a legendary storyteller and would frequently regale his audience with tales of his early life in Chicago and his dog, Bootsy. Anthony was an accomplished fisherman and loved to share his passion and knowledge with his loved ones. Anthony enjoyed a long career in construction, working his way up from a laborer earning $2 an hour to the owner of his own business. His drive and work ethic were truly something to behold. Anthony possessed a wonderful sense of humor and was blessed with an infectious smile and laugh. His charm, laugh, and loving heart will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him, especially his children and grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as “Poppie.” Family and Friends will meet Monday, April 11, 2022 at St. Emily Catholic Church, 1400 E.
