Earl William Hausl Sr.

July 7, 1930 - February 19, 2021

On Friday, February 19, 2021, Earl William Hausl, 90, devoted husband and loving father passed away peacefully in his Arizona home with his wife and all seven of his children by his side. Earl was born on 7/7/1930 in Chicago, IL to William and Adolphine (nee Bock) Hausl. He grew up in the city, attended Taft High School and served in the Korean War. He was employed by Pepsi-Cola for over 30 years. On April 16, 1955, he married the love of his life, Barbara Therese (nee Mullins) and that was a love story that lasted over 65 years. They raised their seven children in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. He was a loving father and devoted husband who cherished his family to the end. His retirement years were spent with his loving wife in Arizona, enjoying the warm weather, traveling, working on the beautification committee, and golfing with his friends. He always looked forward to family and friends visiting, taking them sightseeing and eating at his favorite places. A few rounds of golf, the pool, and driving his golf cart around were enjoyed by all. Earl will be remembered for his generosity and genuine friendships. He had a terrific sense of humor, always ready with a joke or a story. While he was a high school football player and all-around athlete, his true passion was golf – he achieved a hole-in-one multiple times. He enjoyed playing the accordion surrounded by family sing-a-longs. He mesmerized us with his harmonica, top spinning talents and impressed us with crazy maneuvers with the YO-YO. There were countless hours he spent working on puzzles, coaxing his family to participate, then hanging them on the walls. He will never be forgotten for his Friday night homemade pizzas, made on the kitchen table assembly line. The famous buttered baloney and grape jelly sandwiches were always one of his favorites. No one will ever forget his stack of pancakes, waffles or S.O.S. on Sunday mornings, for the mandated family breakfast. If you missed it, you received an occurrence. Holidays were always celebrated with lots of family, food and laughter. Earl took great pride in his family, attending many sporting events and activities. He spent his vacations repairing things around the house, fixing and spray painting our bicycles, taking us on trips to zoos, parks, ball games, lakes and squeezing in the drive-in or movie theater. He sacrificed so much for his family and loved them to eternity. Earl is preceded in death by his parents, William and Adolphine (nee Bock), his brothers William Hausl Jr., Melvin Hausl, and sister Adolphine “Dolly” Losch. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life Barbara (nee Mullins) Hausl, sister Elaine (late Edward) Meerbrey, his 7 children, Debra (Richard) Ester, Renee (John) Stehlin, Earl Jr. (Caroline) Hausl, Barbara (late Donald) Hilton, Glenn (Ellyn) Hausl, Karen (Ward) Tannhauser, Gary (Beth) Hausl, 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, many nieces and nephews. Though his smile is gone forever, and his hand we cannot touch, we still have many memories of the one we love so much. Your memory is our keepsake with which we will never part. God has you in his hands. We love you in our hearts. Memorial visitation will be on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2550 West Hassell Road, (Northeast corner of Barrington Road), Hoffman Estates, IL. 60169. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 28, 2021, 10:30 A.M. at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, 8033 W. Addison Street, Chicago, IL. 60634. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, River Grove, Illinois. The family has created this Life Tributes page to make it easy to share your memories, photos, and videos.
