Mr. Redmond B Sullivan of Schaumburg
January 22, 1931 - May 13, 2022
Redmond Brendan Sullivan, of Schaumburg, Illinois, passed away from natural causes on May 13, 2022. He was born on January 22, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois. He is a 28 year veteran of the United States Air Force, and he was well traveled! He served in the Viet Nam war, and was stationed in Athens, Greece, RAF Alconbury, England, as well as many stateside assignments, with family in tow. Upon retiring in 1978, he settled in Mount Prospect, Illinois, and got a job at AB Dick manufacturing in Niles, Illinois. He worked there for 10 years, and then found a job with the Barrington Police Department as a crossing guard for the school district. To say he loved this job is an understatement. To say the kids loved him immensely, is another. You should see the gifts given to him every Christmas and end of school year by the kids and their parents! He was one popular fellow. Due to health issues, he had to retire in 2018. He had a bout with cancer, and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, but it never stopped him! He visited his friends almost every day, driving himself, and living on his own until his final days. Our dad survived Covid 19 in 2020 after 2 weeks in the hospital, and three in rehab. To say he was one of the strongest people we know is an understatement. He will be missed by everyone who knew his fun personality, his funny jokes, and his mannerisms that made us all laugh. He loved music and singing and The Beach Boys were his all time favorite band. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan, loved the Bears, and NBA Basketball and wrestling! He is survived by his four children, sons Michael, Lakeland, Florida, Daniel, Lowell, Indiana, Kevin, Rockford, Illinois, and his daughter, Colleen (James) Long, Warner Robins, Georgia and grandchildren Daniel Sullivan, Nathan Sullivan, Erin Mckenzie (Ryan) and Kevin Long (Kayleigh), and dearest friend, Pauline Spencer, Carpentersville, Illinois. Services will be held at a later date at a National Cemetery in Georgia. The family has created this Life Tributes page to make it easy to share your memories, photos and videos.
