Mr. Robert Allen Godfrey of Streamwood

Robert A. Godfrey, 80, of Streamwood, Illinois, fondly known as Bob, peacefully passed away on March 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 25, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois. Robert was the beloved son of Robert Allen and Helen Vaughn (Conley) Godfrey. In 1969, he married the love of his life Shirley, and together they had Julie, Michael, Jenny (Chris Redden), and Christopher (Neenah). He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Christopher Jr. and Tyler, Kimberly Munkel (niece) and many other nieces and nephews. Last but not least his beloved dogs, Chloe and Bella. Bob resided in Streamwood for 49 years, where he pursued numerous passions. From camping, woodworking to boating and genealogy, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Bob had a zest for adventures, whether it be exploring the outdoors or traveling to new destinations. Above all, he cherished his roles as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a laugh. Known as the "fun dad" in the neighborhood, Bob delighted in creating unforgettable memories for his children, grandchildren and friends. During all of his adventures, he wholeheartedly embraced each and every moment with enthusiasm, enjoying the company of those around him. Raised in Anaheim and West Covina, California. Bob later pursued his education at Pepperdine University. After relocating to Illinois, Bob dedicated 42 years of his life as an engineer at Resurrection Hospital, where he found fulfillment in his work and cherished the connections he made with others. A private celebration of Bob's life will be held in the coming weeks, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and celebrate the legacy of love and joy he leaves behind.
