Mrs. Sharon Petrovic of Elgin

Sharon Petrovic, 76, of Elgin Illinois, passed away on July 29, 2018. Loving wife of Larry Petrovic; cherished mother of Phillip (Monica) Kunavich and David Kunavich; devoted grandmother of Michael, Jennifer, Kristina, Hailey and Kelsey. Family and Friends will meet Sunday, August 5th from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2550 West Hassel Road, (Northeast corner of Barrington Road), Hoffman Estates, IL 60169. Sharon was born in Elko, Nevada to Edward and Della (Vega) Bastida on July 26, 1942. She was the second child of four siblings and is survived by her brothers Larry (Boise ID), Joe (McCall ID), and John (Upland CA). She grew up in Mountain Home, Idaho when her Dad moved the family when she was young to work for the Air Force base during the war. Sharon credited her work ethic and mechanical skills to her Dad and the long-time towing and auto businesses that bares the family name (Bastida Towing) in Mountain Home. Sharon was proud of her Basque heritage and she had fond memories of the Basque festivals and time spent on the family ranch in Elko and the family store in Mountain City, Nevada. She spent years researching family genealogy and her family is forever grateful for the gift she provided resulting from that research. She enjoyed RV travel with her husband Larry throughout the USA and after retirement spending winters in Arizona and their adventure to Europe visiting several countries on a river cruise. Sharon enjoyed her time with family and the many circles of friends she amassed over the years. She was fond of the diversity and closeness of her friends and the time spent sharing good times, hardships, insights, and the learning and growing everyday through these life experiences. Her family recognizes and appreciates the love and support of friends that Sharon enjoyed every day. Sharon may have lost her battle with lung cancer and COPD, but she will always be remembered for her strength, tenacity, tolerance and especially her positive outlook and spirituality she demonstrated to the very end. The family would like to express gratitude to her doctors, nurses and especially to the staff of JourneyCare in Barrington for the love and compassion shown to Sharon and to family and friends.
