Mr. Ken Cholewczynski of Hoffman Estates

Ken Cholewczynski, of Hoffman Estates, Illinois; age 68 died March 4, 2015 with his loving wife Gerri by his side. Ken is survived by his wife Gerri of 47 years, two children, Mark Cholewczynski, and Jennifer (Jeff) Straub, as well as three adoring granddaughters, Lauryn Straub 15 years old, Rachel Straub 13 years old, and Meghan Straub 8 years old. Ken was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served with the United States Army 1st Calvary Division from 1968-1970. He earned the award for combat aerial support of ground operations in Quan Loi, and the prestigious Purple Heart for heroic actions. Ken was employed by Motorola from 1964-1999, he was a great thinker, and problem solver as he was involved with the creation of 14-20 award winning patent designs. Ken was a family man and enjoyed spending most of his time “tinkering” around in the garage taking apart, and rebuilding anything that had a motor. He loved gadgets of all kinds, and always had the right tool for the job! He was lucky to share his love of mechanics, engineering, gaming, computers, and technology with his best friend, and son Mark. Ken and Gerri built their life together, with their family, loving extended family, and great friends. He especially loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, and trips up to Rhinelander to catch the “Big One”. When he could no longer travel, he would often build a campfire in the yard where family and friends could spend time together, and enjoy. Ken, also known as “Grandpa C” will be fondly remembered by his granddaughters, who loved to hear his funny stories, participate in his crazy inventions and experiments, and pick tomatoes in his famous garden. Family and Friends will meet Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 11:30 A.M. until time of Memorial Service at 12:30 P.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2550 Hassell Road (Northeast corner of Barrington Road), Hoffman Estates, IL. 60169.
