Mrs. Nancy E. Gozdecki of Des Plaines

Nancy E. Gozdecki, nee Pawlicki, 79, of Des Plaines, Illinois. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nancy Gozdecki of Des Plaines, who passed away on January 12, 2026. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24th, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Morizzo Funeral Home in Hoffman Estates (2550 Hassell Rd). She was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Eugenia Pawlicki, and her “forever young” brother, Tommy. She is survived by her children Jason (Julianne Reddekopp) Gozdecki, Sarah (Mark) Carlson; her beloved grandchildren Caroline and Katherine, and her former spouse Edward, who remained a lifelong friend. Nancy was a geriatric nurse for over 40 years, a role she was born to do. After her official retirement, she took on private clients, caring for them in their homes. Her kindness, dedication, and warmth touched countless lives. Nancy was only a phone call away with advice on how to handle any ailment and she never failed to show up for her loved ones in times of need. Nancy was rarely seen without a book, always carrying one in her purse. She visited the library weekly and had a lifelong passion for learning. But Nancy’s greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother. She spent every weekend making cherished memories with her grandkids – going to the library, playing with their beloved dog George who never left her side, swinging on the swing set, going out to eat, gardening and spending hours at the Dollar Store – she was always up for any adventure. Nancy’s talents and passions were many. From hand-making Barbie clothes, sewing full costumes, or just hemming some pants, Nancy was always willing to share her creative gifts with others. She will always be remembered for her love of Elvis and Queen, her giant smile and contagious laugh, zest for life, and the way she made every person feel like they mattered. Nancy will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Family and friends are to gather for the visitation on Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 1:00 P.M. till 6:00 P.M. at Morizzo Funeral Home, 2550 West Hassell Rd., (Northeast corner of Barrington Rd.), Hoffman Estates, IL. 60169.
